BIOGRAPHY PREVIEW:
Thomas (Tom) Frederick Dengate was born on 12 April 1895 to Fred and Elizabeth at the family home of 21 Commercial Road in Eastbourne. The family continue to reside at their Commercial Road home at the time of the 1901 census with Fred working as a coal carter.

After the outbreak of the First World War, Tom joined the Royal Field Artillery on 7 September 1914. He was a bombardier with 11 Battery and served with them throughout the war, until being hospitalised on 1 July 1918. He served with the Colours until the 2 September 1920 before going onto the army reserve list for six years until full discharge on 6 September 1926...
