BIOGRAPHY:
Ada Dengate was born 8 October 1875 in Peasmarsh to Thomas and Frances Dengate. She was baptised in St Peter and St Paul's Church, Peasmarsh on the 9 April 1876.

The 1881 census shows Ada as a five year-old scholar living with her parents and brothers and sisters and nephew and niece on Main Street, Peasmarsh.
Ada joined Peasmarsh school on the 16 July 1883, along with her sister Caroline and cousin Matilda "Tillie" Dengate. Also at school with Ada during her time there was her cousin Alfred Russell Dengate. She left the school on the 5 March 1886.

Ada Dengate died of heart disease, which she had had for two years, on the 4 August 1894 aged 18 years in Peasmarsh. Her brother, John Thomas Dengate was present at the death. Her death certificate lists her occupation as "daughter of Thomas Dengate, a corn miller journeyman [paid by the day]." Ada was buried in St Peter and St Paul's Church, Peasmarsh. Later her brothers John Thomas, James and Charles and parents Thomas and Frances along with other members of her family were also buried in the churchyard. There is no memorial to her in the churchyard.
